....tagkawayan 101....part 1....

....Way back when (1800-1904),Tagkawayan was inhabited by the Aeta people who speak "bisaya or bicolano"......The Aeta people love to party...drinking and dancing.....and the place for the party is Mataas na Bato......In order for the party to be more fun they invite other tribes across the Ragay Gulf to come and join the party....what they did is put a piece of cloth at the far end of a tall bamboo or kawayan then place it at the highest point of Mataas na Bato as a sign of invitation....The tribes across Ragay Gulf seing the bamboo with a piece of cloth came on a boat to be part of the celebration....

....Tribes from across Ragay Gulf as well as the Aetas call this place " kawayan " because of the abundant bamboo found in the place...thus people living here was called " taga-kawayan "....But because the Aeta people are so superstitious and they believe that Mataas na Bato is a source of supernatural powers and protection.... the term " taga-kawayan " was renamed to " taga-kawayan bato " in honor of Mataas na Bato.....

....After years and years the term " bato" in " taga-kawayan bato " was removed and became " taga-kawayan"....and the term " taga-kawayan " eventually became " Tagkawayan ".
